Kyrgyz president debates topical issues of co-op with Hungarian PM

Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met in Budapest with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban. Topical issues and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said Tuesday. Welcoming Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Viktor Orban thanked him for arrival to the country with a representative delegation, which included heads of several ministries of the republic. "Hungary considers Kyrgyzstan as a country with ancient cultural traditions and deep culture,” Viktor Orban emphasized. The prime minister of Hungary told about the peculiarities and values of the country's political culture, about the structure and activities of the Government, focused on key areas of its activities, noting the readiness to expand joint cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. Jeenbekov stressed that a narrow format talks provided an opportunity to constructively debate a wide range of issues. He especially noted that Kyrgyz-Hungarian cooperation has great potential for further expansion, adding with satisfaction that today it is reaching a new strategic level. "We are pleased that Hungary has become our first strategic partner in Europe. We have a substantive agenda that covers issues in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres," the Kyrgyz leader underlined. President Jeenbekov noted that the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Development Fund will make a significant contribution to the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the country in the post-pandemic period. He also expressed confidence that the first Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Forum would allow establishing direct business contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries and give an additional impetus to trade and economic cooperation. Besides, Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed his gratitude for assignment of a name great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov by a square and for increasing quotas for students. The Kyrgyz leader invited the Hungarian prime minister to pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov arrived in Hungary on Sept. 28 for return visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
