KUWAIT INVITES TURKISH BUSINESSMEN TO JOIN INFRASTRUCTURE TENDERS

ANKARA (A.A) - 24.05.2010 - Kuwait invited Turkish firms to join infrastructure tenders worth of nearly 24 billion USD.
Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek told the A.A on Monday that Turkish constructors undertook projects of about 155 billion USD in more than 70 countries.
"I met with Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Ahmad al-Fahd al-Jabir al-Sabah of Kuwait during my visit to Beirut earlier this month where I went to attend the Arab Economic Forum. Al-Sabah informed us that they were planning to make infrastructure projects in the country worth of nearly 24 billion USD. He wanted Turkish firms to take part in those tenders," he said.
"I will pay a visit to Kuwait this week to attend Turkey-Kuwait Joint Economic Commission meetings. During our meeting in Beirut, al-Sabah asked me to bring a crowded delegation of businessmen. Now, we will encourage Turkish construction firms to undertake infrastructure projects in Kuwait," he added.
According to the Foreign Trade Undersecretariat data, Turkish contractors undertook more than 2,700 projects in different countries between 2003 and 2007. Their investments in Russia accounted for 18.2 percent.
