King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Mosque inaugurated

Manama, June 10 (BNA): Tasked by His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa inaugurated today late King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Mosque in Umm Al Hasam in the presence of a large number of people and officials. On arrival, he unveiled the mosque's commemorative plaque. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa gave a speech in which he paid homage to King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who took charge of building the mosque in its first image 25 years ago. He also paid homage to late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who ordered the re-building of the mosque. The Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for allocating a large plot of land for the mosque to be re-built on. He lauded strong and deep-rooted brotherly relations between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and their growth in various fields. Then, Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Malik Al Shaikh underlined in his speech constant keenness of Saudi Arabia on building mosques worldwide since the era of founder late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. He lauded the kind gesture of late King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud when he ordered to build the mosque, which was named after him, shortly after his visit to Bahrain in the late 1970's. He also praised the directives of late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to re-build and extend the mosque, commending the support of HM the King by allocating the adjacent land plot. King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Mosque covers an area of 10,000 sqm, including more than 5000 sqm allocated for the building and the open courtyard. It has a capacity of around 3000 worshippers and features many facilities
