Katara Showcases Rare Artworks and Calligraphy From Uzbekistan
Doha, June 02 (QNA) - Rare artworks, precious objects, masterpieces of eastern calligraphy, miniature art, traditional culture and heritage of Uzbekistan are showcased at Katara, Qatar's epicenter of art and culture in the West Bay.
The exhibition, a joint project between Katara and the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation.
It features distinct sections. The first displays book samples of eastern calligraphy and miniature art from the 7th to the21st centuries.
The second section includes classical and modern painters from Uzbekistan with works belonging to musicological and private collections.
The third section labelled 'Rarities' presents rare historical costumes from the collections of the Bukhara state architectural artistic museum and Tashkent state museum of arts.
The last section called 'Traditional Culture of Uzbekistan' presents the best works of applied arts of Uzbekistan including woodcarving, embossing, embroidery and gold embroidery among other mediums.
Encouraging art and culture lovers to see the rare collection, Katara said, "The co-operation of many museums and private collections makes this exhibition unique and gives an opportunity to appreciate the art and culture of Uzbekistan."
The exhibition which is open from 10amd to 10pm at Building No 13 at Katara concludes June 16. (QNA)
