Karzai Calls For Sharing Resources Between Islamic World And US

Doha , June 09 (QNA) - President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai called Sunday on the Islamic world and the West to work together to eradicate extremism and correct the impression of Islam in the West. He also called for settling conflicts peacefully. On relations between the US and the Islamic world, Karzai said that it must be one of mutual benefit. He added that the sharing of resources and knowledge is a must if the two parties are to prosper and progress. The President of Afghanistan was delivering a speech today at the opening of the 10th annual US-Islamic World Forum, which began in Doha today. The forum hosts a number of distinguished policy makers who will discuss a range of issues relating to developments in the region. Karzai expressed his appreciation to HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for patronizing the forum, which reflects a positive image of the State of Qatar and the Islamic world in general. The Afghan President reviewed a number of important issues relating to the relationship between the US and the West. He focused especially on the Palestinian issue and the war on terror and how those two issues affected the two parties. (QNA)
