Kambarata HPP-1 launch will strengthen energy security of Central Asian countries: Tokayev

Cholpon-Ata, July 21, 2022. /Kabar/. The launch of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant will strengthen the energy security of the Central Asian countries, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said at the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia. He noted that Kazakhstan attaches special importance to the implementation of joint hydropower projects for the mutually beneficial use of water resources of transboundary rivers. "In this context, the Kambarata HPP-1 construction project in Kyrgyzstan is being actively discussed. The launch of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant will strengthen energy security of Central Asian countries and improve conditions for the expansion of agricultural production," Tokayev said. Cholpon-Ata town of Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul Oblast is hosting on Thursday the Fourth Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia. Within the framework of the Consultative Meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents, as well as to hold bilateral meetings.
