KAHRAMAA to host GCCIAs Operations Committee Meeting

Doha, May 20 (QNA) - The 24th meeting of the Operations Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) will be held tomorrow here at Intercontinental Doha Hotel. The two- day high level meeting is being hosted by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) where a number of its senior functionaries will mark their presence headed by Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Hammadi, Electricity System Controls department manager and Eng. Ahmad Abulqadir, section head, National Control Centre of KAHRAMAA. KAHRAMAA said in press release today that the event will have GCCIA representatives and delegates from all six countries of GCC. The first day of the event will be focused on a workshop to discuss key performance indicators (KPIs) of each member country concerning power grid- related developments followed by presentations of all participating GCCIA member countries, the press release said. The second day of the meeting will discuss the readiness and other important issues of member countries in view of upcoming peak summer, it added. The GCC countries generally have similar load patterns, with peak demand occurring in the daytime during the summer months driven primarily by high temperatures and heavy loads. Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" was established in July 2000 further to the Emiri Law number 10, to regulate and maintain supply of Electricity & Water to customers. Since inception, Kahramaa has operated as an independent corporation on a commercial basis with a total capital of four billion Qatari riyals. (QNA)
