KAHRAMAA Electricity Projects Department Gets ISO Certification
Doha, April 27 (QNA) - The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation's (KAHRAMAA) Electricity Projects Department has recently received an ISO certification (ISO:9001/2008) by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), which audited the system and performance of the department.
According to a press release by KAHRAMAA, the ISO certifications cover all department sections. Evaluation proved that all procedures, instructions, and policy at the department goes in line with Quality Management Systems (QMS) in terms of customer orientation, leadership and employee participation, and quality improvement, with the donor hailing security and safety procedures.
The earned achievement has added a new dimension in KAHRAMAA's recognitions and appreciations across the world. The new success is the outcome of the relentless efforts, focused dedicated attentions and commendable team work among others of the department, the company said.
KAHRAMAA has a plan to be an ISO certified corporation after completing the QMS requirements at all departments. Six other departments have attained ISO after complying with all QMS requirements in terms of network planning, electricity transmission to customers, construction, operation, and maintenance of electricity transmission network including substations, and transmission lines, and electricity control. This includes as well design and implementation of electricity and water basic infrastructure projects. Work is in progress at 18 departments to get ISO and thus OHSAS 18001.
Established in 2000 to regulate and maintain the supply of electricity and water to customers, KAHRAMAA has the privilege of being the sole transmission and distribution system owner and operator (TDSOO) for the electricity and water sector in Qatar. It formulates Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPA), owns, constructs and operates electricity and water transmission and distribution networks, as well as sets-up plans and programs for the development of electricity and water networks.
