Justice Minister Underlines Importance of Arab Conference for Developing Human Rights System

Doha, June 03 (QNA) - HE Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim has underscored the importance of the Arab Conference for Developing Arab League (AL) Human Rights system, which was opened today in Doha and is jointly organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and Arab Institutions Network for Human Rights. This came in a statement given by HE Minister of Justice to reporters after the opening session at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Asked whether the conference would discuss "Arab Court for Human Rights" which the 24th Arab summit in Doha approved a decision to establish it, Al-Ghanim said the conference is more inclusive one as it will develop a comprehensive legislation and system. He lauded the important role played by the NHRC and its role in improving the unified Arab legislations and their development at the Arab level, including the Arab Court for Human Rights and other Arab League institutions. His Excellency expressed the hope that the national committees in Arab countries join hand and intensify their efforts to do more in this regard, adding in the State of Qatar it is obvious that the NHRC is supporting such action. On the role of the Arab ministries of justice in the development of such system, Al-Ghanim said that they have nothing to do with this matter, but they can contribute to it through participating in the meetings of the ministerial councils of the Arab League.
