Journalists prepare to cover the signing of Jakarta Concord

Jakarta, IORA – Journalists prepare to cover the signing of the main document of IORA Concord or Jakarta Concord in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Tuesday (3/7). Prior to this, national and international journalists who will cover the signing report to the media center must get overpass card. They are then directed to proceed to the room where the signing will take place which is about 200 meters from IORA Summit Media Center. About 15 journalists are allowed to cover the signing session. Ministry of Communications and Information Technology only facilitate 15 Photo and TV journalists to do a live coverage of the event. All the journalists who are permitted are those who wear formal suits instructed by the protocol. This regulation must be obeyed by the journalists since they will attend an international event where the state heads will also attend. Based on the data on Sunday night (3/4), there were about 300 journalists coming from Indonesia and abroad who covered Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit that will take place from March 5—7, 2017. Several heads of state who confirm to come are the President of South Africa, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Prime Minister of India, and President of Sri Lanka. This fact is one of the reasons why there are many media journalists who will cover IORA Summit. For the information, IORA is an international organization consisting of the countries in the coastal area of Indian Ocean. There are 21 member states and 7 dialogue partners. This organization was established in 1997 with the purpose of tightening the cooperation among the member states. (LT/FLW)
