Jeenbekov meets with Deputy Head of Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak

Bishkek, Oct. 13, 2020 /Kabar/. From the first days of the crisis in the socio-political situation in the country, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov held numerous telephone conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported. Kyrgyzstan and Russia are allies and strategic partners, as well as members of the CSTO, EAEU, CIS and SCO. The Russian side expressed concern and offered its assistance in resolving the situation from the moment the its has arisen. The Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek hosted the day before meeting of President Jeenbekov with Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak, who arrived in the republic on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov also attended the meeting. Following the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan, held last Sunday with the participation of 16 parties, supporters of political parties, which failed to win seats, organized protest actions in Bishkek demanding the annulment of the elections and claiming gross violations. Preliminary results showed that four parties crossed the 7 percent threshold to enter the parliament. Kyrgyzstan's Central Election Commission on Tuesday annulled the results of the elections after clashes between police and protesters. As a result, over 1000 people were injured, 1 (man,19) has died. On Oct. 9, in his fficial statement President Jeenbekov declared readiness to resign. On the same day he signed a decree on resignation of the government and prime minister. On Oct. 10 at an extraordinary meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament deputies approved Sadyr Zhaparov as prime minister of the country.
