Jeenbekov to deliver speech at Parliament meeting

Bishkek, Oct. 16, 2020 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan’s President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Prime Minister Sadyr Zhaparov will attend an extraordinary meeting of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh. There are three items on the agenda of the meeting: - Taking the oath by deputy from Ata-Meken faction Omurbek Tekebayev; - taking note of the resignation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov; - consideration of the candidacy for the post of the country's acting president Sooronbay Jeenbekov announced his intention to resign on Thursday. According to the Constitution, in case of the resignation of the president, the speaker of parliament becomes acting head of state. If the speaker is unable to act as president, then powers are transferred to the prime minister.
