Jeenbekov addresses Kyrgyzstanis in connection with current situation in country

Bishkek, Oct. 7, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov made an appeal to the Kyrgyz people in connection with the current situation in the country, his press service said. In his address Jeenbekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan is going through the most difficult period. “No power or position can be higher than human life,” he said adding that he did not endanger human lives and did not give the command to use force against those who broke into the Parliament building. “In those days, there were also urgent proposals for the violent suppression of protesters. I categorically rejected this. That is why I did not sign the Decree on the introduction of the state of emergency,” President Jeenbekov said. He emphasized that those who wanted to get positions have achieved their goal. “Now we need to stop our supporters who are continuing their street actions. I once again urge their organizers and political leaders to return to the legal field,!” Jeenbekov noted. The Kyrgyz President also highlighted the merit of youth, who showed their high civic position in this difficult time. “Without closing your eyes all night, you have worked to preserve the peace, property of citizens and the state, for which I am grateful. You have demonstrated once again, not in words, but in deeds that Kyrgyzstan is dear to you, not the position of power,” he said. President Jeenbekov once again called on all parties to be patient and restrained and stressed that the interests of the state are higher than personal ambitions. “We will get out of this situation by joint efforts,” he said recalling that the most urgent task today is to ensure peace and public order in Kyrgyzstan.
