Jaafari Up To Japan On An Official Visit Lasting Several Days

BAGHDAD / NINA / Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari arrived in the Japanese capital Tokyo on an official visit lasting several days to meet Japanese officials and activating the work of the joint Iraqi-Japanese Committee. A statement by the Foreign Ministry today said, "al-Jaafari said, during his visit, he will meet his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, chairman of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Head of the Foreign Trade Organization, the Committee on the Iraqi-Japanese parliamentary friendship and a number of officials for strengthening bilateral relations. A statement from the foreign ministry quoted al-Jaafari as saying before his departure: "The visit comes in the framework of strengthening relations between Baghdad and Tokyo and discuss common issues between the two countries."
