Jaafari: Iraq Needs A Special Project Similar To The Marshall Project, Which Contributed In The Construction Of Germany After World War II
BAGHDAD / NINA / Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said Iraq needs a project similar to the Marshall project, which contributed to the construction of Germany after the Second World War to contribute in security, stability, reconstruction and economic development.
He said during a meeting with Brett McGurk, special envoy of the US President to fight Daesh, according to a statement from his office, "The strategic framework agreement signed between Baghdad and Washington includes several areas of cooperation and exchange of common interests and face common dangers and we must work to activate this agreement."
He continued: "Iraq called in 2014, the United Nations and the international community to support Him on three ranges: real-time through the provision of air support and cooperation of intelligence to counter terrorism, and the average to provide necessary supplies for displaced families, and the faraway through the reconstruction of the infrastructure of Iraq after the elimination of Daesh. "
He stressed that "the Iraqis continue to sacrifice to complete the liberation of their land from the grip of Daesh," noting that "what was achieved of the great achievements and progress in the war against terrorism came by the efforts of Iraq's heroes who gave their blood in defense of their country, and on behalf of the countries of the whole world, but the world's peoples have the right to be proud of what has been achieved from victories against terrorism. "
Jaafari called on the world to "stand respectfully and fairly for the sacrifices of the Iraqi people, who have presented a large number of His sons and faced terrorism, and defeated it" noting that "the war on terrorism today is not the war of territory, or political and economic interests, but a war against human wherever. "
He added that: "Any tension in regional relations would provide a favorable environment for the terrorism and increase its effectiveness, and we, despite our refusal to the Turkish intervention in Iraqi territory, but we are committed to the relationship with them and the Security Council should put this fact in front of its eyes, which we reaffirmed in 2015 in the Turkish penetration in Ba'shiqah ".
He stressed on "carefulness to establish better relations between the Arab countries in general and the geographical neighbors, as they have a major impact on the deployment of an atmosphere of security and stability in the region and the whole world."
McGurk from his part said: "The Iraqi people was conscious and united to confront terrorism," stressing that " Daesh terrorist gangs will be eliminated, and Iraq by His unity will overcome this crisis, and be more secure and stable."
He explained that "nothing today compared to what happened in Iraq after the entry of Daesh in 2014," adding, "The United States will host, later this month, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers from / 65 / states within the framework of the international coalition to discuss developments in the war and to continue efforts to eliminate terrorism and ways to enhance cooperation in the next phase. "
He continued: "I visited several countries before coming to Iraq and everyone was surprised at the progress in Iraq from the victories, and the progress in the war against Daesh terrorist gangs."
During the meeting, the statement said "they reviewed the conduct of military operations against the terrorist gangs, and the big victories achieved by the Iraqis armed forces in their war against terrorism and by the support of the international coalition and friendly countries for Iraq," ./ End
