Jaafari Assures China's Foreign Minister The Importance Of Activating Bilateral Agreements

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) - Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari confirmed the importance of activating the agreements signed between Baghdad and Beijing.
During a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Forum on Civilizations in Athens, Jaafari reviewed the progress of relations between Baghdad and Beijing, ways of enhancing them, opening new horizons for joint cooperation and international efforts in the fight against terrorism.
Al-Jaafari expressed thanks and appreciation for China's stance, its support for Iraq's efforts in the fight against terrorism and military cooperation through support and training, stressing that the Iraqis continue their sacrifices and progress in their war against terrorist gangs and liberate their lands in full soon.
He confirmed "The importance of the continued support of the international community to Iraq, and contribute actively to the reconstruction of infrastructure of Iraqi cities," adding that "Iraq is looking to increase China's support."
He stressed the need to develop the partnership between the two countries in all fields and activate the agreements signed between Baghdad and Beijing because of their great impact in opening up the horizons of joint cooperation, inviting Wang Yi to visit Baghdad in the context of deepening bilateral relations.
For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed his country's keenness to support Iraq in various fields and to preserve independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and support Iraq's efforts in the fight against terrorism.
He praised the great victories achieved by the Iraqis in their war against terrorism, stressing that the next phase will witness increased support for Iraq with China's willingness to contribute to support the Iraqi economy./ End
