ITEC program day celebrated in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 28, the Embassy of India in Mongolia celebrated ITEC day or Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program day in Blue Sky hotel.
Opening the meeting, Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of India Mr. O.P.Meena said it is pleasant to proudly announce that Mongolia is one of the main partner countries of ITEC program. The Government of India offers annually 150 slots for civil courses and 15 slots exclusively for Defence under ITEC programme besides 50 scholarships for higher education by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. The Government of India will keep supporting development of human resource of Mongolia, involving in its special programs.
In the frameworks of the projects and programs, the Indian Government granted USD 1 billion soft loan to the Government of Mongolia for the construction of oil refinery. Furthermore, the sides agreed to build Information Technology and Outsourcing Center named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee with funding of USD 20 million from the Indian Government.
Within humanitarian relief, Indian side helped children of herding households who affected by dzud disaster in 2016-2017 and citizens in Bayan-Ulgii, Khuvsgul and Arkhangai aimags affected in flooding in July, 2018.
ITEC is a demand-driven, response-oriented program. Since April 1, 2007, Mongolian 1294 citizens have benefited from the program. Besides attending in professional English courses, they involved in training on data analysis, election management, policy on scientific and technology innovation as well as yoga training.
