Iraqi President: Baghdad seriously trying to reinforce ties with Iran

Baghdad, Nov 18, IRNA - President of Iraq Barham Saleh said his country is working hard to strengthen relations and economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. 'Historic and deeply rooted cultural and social ties are linking Iraq and Iran,' Saleh wrote on his Twitter page on Sunday. 'We are working hard to strengthen the relations and economic cooperation of the two countries,' the Iraqi president added. Saleh noted that Iraq will be pivotal in the establishment of a regional organization based on respect for national sovereignty and economic synergy.
