Iraq, Qatar Sign MoU In Doha To Enhance Security Cooperation

BAGHDAD, IRAQ (NINA) - Iraq and Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Doha today to boost security cooperation. "Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, director-general of the Qatari public security, and Major General Maher Najm Abdul-Hussein, undersecretary of the interior ministry for intelligence and federal investigations, signed a memorandum of understanding in the presence of a number of security leaders in the two countries," Qatari Al-Sharq newspaper reported. The Director General of the General Security of Qatar stressed that the two parties intend to form a joint committee of the two sides of specialists to follow up the implementation of the provisions of the memorandum of understanding, praising the close cooperation between the two countries in all fields. For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Federal Intelligence and Investigations said that the memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Interior of both countries opens a new horizon for security cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples. He said that the memorandum of understanding covers a number of security areas, including combating terrorism and organized crime in all its forms and exchanging information, experiences and others, indicating that a joint committee will be formed to activate this cooperation.
