Iraq And Kuwait Sign Memorandum Of Understanding In Various Fields

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi-Kuwaiti Committee held its fifth meeting in Kuwait headed by Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari for the Iraqi side and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Kuwaiti side.
Jaafari confirmed, in the meeting, according to a foreign ministry statement today, "the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, and support Iraq, and to emphasize the unity and territorial integrity, adding that the relationship between our two countries is responsive relationship to the facts of history, geography and society, and we hope that we expand more and more to establish relations on a broad base.
He added that Kuwait plays an important role at all levels, and the Kuwaiti speech takes into account the interests of Iraq," pointing out that "Iraq is exposed today to a violation of its sovereignty and we count on Kuwait to support Iraq in its stand from neighbor Turkey.
He said that the Iraqi - Kuwaiti relations is good best, and the page of the past was turned and we open a page-based love, trust, and mutual respect, which is prominent feature in the relations between us, adding that we can take advantage of Kuwait in the areas of investment and economy, and Kuwait can benefit from Iraq, so we look forward to strengthen relations and respect sovereignty, and expand the investment mechanisms and we renew our thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Sabah, and we hope that Baghdad to hold the next meeting of the Committee.
For his part, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said: when we talk about relations between the two countries, we are pursuing the right path, saying that broad participation by the two sides affirms the keenness of both sides to relations.
The two sides signed several memoranda of understanding in many areas in the interest of the two brotherly peoples. / End 2
