Iran establishes mass production of naval cruise missile system

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 4 / Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/ Iran has established mass production of "Zafar" (Triumph) naval cruise missiles, IRINN reported. Naval cruise missiles are designed to be operated aboard naval ships and submarines. According to Iranian officials, the deployment of the missile systems along the country's coastline will not only boost national defense capability, but play a key role in maintaining regional security and stability as well. The naval cruise missile system has been fully designed and produced by local experts. Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said the Zafar missiles can attack navies, military boats and other sea-based targets with high speed and accuracy. In April 2011, Vahidi announced that the country has successfully test-fired the home-made Zafar missile, and pointed out that Zafar missiles are "the fastest cruise missiles in the world".
