Iran diplomat in UK censures Germany over baseless accusations
London, IRNA – Iranian Chargé d'Affaires in the UK Mehdi Hosseini Matin has reacted to the unfounded claims leveled against Iran by the German ambassador in London, saying that Berlin officials should be shameful of their hypocritical behavior.
Hosseini-Matin said on his Twitter account on Tuesday night, "Germany with history of aggressions, talking about punishing a civilized nation!"
He also ruled out the "unsubstantiated allegations" made by the German diplomat over arms cooperation between Russia and Iran in the Ukraine war, noting, "Iran’s legal foreign relations with others is not subject to interference."
The Iranian diplomat added that Berlin should be shameful for its behavior in neglecting its commitments under the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, aka the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The tweet is a reaction to German Ambassador to London Miguel Burger, who tweeted that the Islamic Republic sends drones to Russia and that Iran should be punished with more sanctions because of assisting Russia to create horror by the use of its drones among civilians in Ukraine.
The German diplomat also put forward the allegation that Iran might sell missiles to Russia.
In recent weeks, some unconfirmed reports over Iran-Russia arms cooperation have been circulated, which have been ruled out by the Iranian authorities on several occasions.
Tehran has underlined that it pursues active neutrality in the Ukraine war, calling for resolving the differences between Moscow and Kiev on the basis of a political solution, but the Western powers dispatch numerous destructive weapons to Ukraine, which can only fan the flame of the conflict.
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian underscored in a phone call with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto on October 7 that despite the fact that certain countries are sending arms to Ukraine, Iran has never sent any weapons to Russia to be used against Ukraine, because any shipment of arms will delay the potential opportunity to reach peace.
