Iran’s 7-month trade turnover exceeds $56 billion

Iran transacted $56.38 billion worth of goods with other countries during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 20, the Mehr News Agency quoted the Iranian Customs Administration Head Abbas Memarnejad as saying.
Over 45 million tons of goods (including condensates), worth $24.67 billion were exported and 23.54 million tons of goods, worth $31.71 billion were imported during the 7-month period, he added.
The exports and imports decreased by 1.44 percent and 7.94 percent respectively compared to the same period last year, he noted.
Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and China were the main importers of Iranian goods, while the United Arab Emirates, China, and Turkey were the main exporters, Memarnejad said.
Iran exported around $43.7 billion worth of non-oil goods in the previous (calendar) year and imported some $61.8 billion worth of goods, to hit the unprecedented mark of $105 billion in annual trade.
On August 5, Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Shamseddin Hosseini said Iran conducted economic transactions with 150 countries in the last calendar year.
Iran's annual trade turnover is projected to reach $160 billion by the end of the fifth five-year development plan (March 2016), TPOI reported in May.
