Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Executive Committee has today convened in Bahrain. Thirty-five participants are attending the two-day session, which will review practices enforced in several countries and discuss case studies which centre on the judiciary and the powers of the public prosecution in member states.
Public Prosecutor Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al-Bouainin stressed the importance of keeping abreast of global trends and acquiring expertise. In a statement on the sidelines of the meeting, he stressed Bahrain's strides in this field, paying tribute to the wise leadership for supporting the judiciary.
"The worldwide organization of prosecutors, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, now has up to 2000 members and 160 organisations from all over the world", Dr. Al-Bounaini said. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), IPA President Gerhard Jarosch stressed the importance of the case studies which shed light on countries' practices and procedures in combating criminality. Dr. Al-Buainin, an IPA member, announced that a workshop themed "Protecting Human Rights and Penal Code procedures" would be held on April 11-12 at the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies.
