Inundated School In Pathum Thani Province Opens Tuesday
PHATHUM THANI, December 4 (TNA) - A school in Bangkok’s neighbouring province of Pathum Thani which was under deep flood water of over two metres for more than one month is now dried and classes will be reopened starting this Tuesday.
Resumption of classes is made possible after more than 200 officials of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s National Park, Wildlife and Flora Department helped clean the school building and its library.
The school is located in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district.
These officials who had helped clean the school are part of more than 3,000 who worked on a rotation basis in making sandbags and placed them to prevent floodwater from entering Bangkok. They had also helped in evacuating flood victims and are still staying in the capital even though several inundated areas have improved now after flood has receded.
The officials whose duties are to grow trees, patrolling reserved parks and contain bushfires traveled all the way from the North to the capital to assist in containing the severe flood which had ravaged Bangkok and neighbouring provinces. Many of them fell sick as they were not accustomed to food and weather in the capital.
Despite the difficulty, they are proud to be able to help fellow Thais.
The officials will return to their native North and perform their normal duty after completing their mission. (TNA)
