Interviews Begin for Upcoming "Voices of Women" Workshop
Doha, May 17 (QNA) - The Girls Creativity Centre operated by Qatar's Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage continues its selection of participants for "Voices of Women", a film-making workshop targeted at Qatari girls, with the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and Anzima for creative services.
The workshop will provide over 10 Qatari girls aged between 17 and 25 years with the opportunity to learn film-making, enabling them to produce documentary and short drama films expressing their views on various aspects of life.
Interviews were conducted by a committee which includes Director of the Girls Creativity Centre and artist Huda al-Saadi, Film Director Abdulrahman Najdi who heads the workshop, Documentary Director and Deputy Workshop Head Hussein Gholoum al-Muhammadi, Film Critic and General Centre Coordinator Ali Fawzy, and Aljazeera Editing Engineer Hussein Al-Lari. The committee bases its criteria on visual, knowledge-related, and cultural talents in addition to a disposition for hard work.
A previous announcement on "Voices of Women" has been made and dates have been set for May 20 and 21 for the second round to enable a large number of participants to take part, al-Saadi said adding that 12 girls would be selected.
The workshop is divided into two phases; theoretical exposure to film-making and practical applications, which is supervised by experts and specialists in the industry, she indicated.
Films will be screened in shows and on the internet so as to be placed as the focus of a discussion forum between youth and the film-makers, al-Saadi said. (QNA)
