International Festival held in Chiang Mai to honour Princess

CHIANG MAI, November 4 (TNA) - Tourists are packing the northern Thai resort province of Chiang Mai for the international lantern festival, which is being held to honour Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Seven countries namely Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam and France are displaying lanterns each representing their identities as well as lantern dolls draped in national dresses. The lanterns have beautifully illuminated the area, where visitors said they are having a pleasant time of admiring the lanterns and taking photographs as souvenirs. The biggest highlight of the festival is the display of lanterns resembling a giant golden dragon that is as high as a two-storey building and is over 40 meters long. An illuminated dragon is also being showcased to honour Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn whom the Chinese people respect and regard as their best friend in a century. Friendly relations between Thailand and China have continued for 150 years. (TNA)
