Interior Ministry: Ashura ceremonies must be kept in its religious context

Manama , Oct 22 (BNA): Freedom to perform religious rites is guaranteed by the constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In this context, the Interior Ministry provides security services to ensure the maintenance of order, protection for places of worship and religious events, including ceremony of Ashura, which must be kept in its religious context.
In the framework of the maintenance of order during performing ceremonies of Ashura, the security forces, in accordance with the law, have dealt with violations have been committed, represented in placing miniatures in violated places that pose a threat to traffic safety. The security forces have also removed banners and political phrases, photographs and flags not relevant to the ceremony of Ashura, which represent a threat to the social fabric and civil peace, and a encroachment on public streets and private and public properties. There are places already designated for placing religious banners that are known for everybody, therefore the security forces have carried out their duty according to the law and removed the violated banners and phrases, which constituted a threat to people's lives and violation to public and private properties.
Holding Ashura ceremony can be held in the designated places, but those who deliberately exploit Ashura rites by committing violation to private and public properties will be held accountable in accordance with the law, on the grounds that the law is applied at all times, and that the interests of the country is above all.
