Interior minister receives German defence minister

Manama, Nov. 1 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received here today the German Defence Minister Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen and her accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan and General Director of the Interior Ministry Court Major-General Riyadh Eid Abdullah. The Interior Minister welcomed the German Official who participated in the 11th session of the Manama Dialogue and highlighted the importance of the ongoing joint coordination to reinforce bilateral ties, especially in the security field. He highlighted the interior ministry's efforts of the at ensuring security and general safety and asserted that Bahrain's democratic process and political and legislative reforms are the fruitful outcome of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He said that Bahrain is moving forward towards bright and secure future for all the segments in the society through the reinforcement of human rights principles and protection of freedoms. The meeting discussed reinforcing joint efforts to fight extremism through active international terrorism-fighting programmes to dry up its sources. They discussed security cooperation and topic of mutual security interest.
