Interior minister meets governors

Manama, June 29 (BNA): Minister of Interior Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa held a meeting here today with the four governors.
The meeting highlighted topics related to governorates’ affairs and reinforcement of cooperation with concerned ministries and organisations to provide better services.
The Interior Minister directed to increase visits to places of worship and interact with their caretakers to nominate a number of volunteers to be registered at security directorates as security volunteers, who will contribute to safeguarding places of worship, because they know the residents of their areas, as the selection process will be done in coordination with governors.
The volunteers will work under the supervision of policemen. They will provide assistance in preventing gatherings in case of any accidents and will receive training in first aid and civil defence.
The Interior Minister said that the governor will be in charge responsible in the site, while police directorates and representatives of the Sunni and Jaffary endowments have to coordinate with a follow up unit at each governorate to protect places of worship and draft emergency plans in coordination with ministries and government bodies.
He directed to intensify visits to Majalis to learn the requirements of the public, in order to promote the community partnership concept.
He urged governors to calm down people by explaining protection procedures of places of worship to strengthen the internal front and encourage people to actively participate in building the future of the nation.
The meeting was attended by General Coordinator of Governorates and Police Media Director.
