Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa has today chaired a meeting with four governors, in the presence of the Governorates' General Coordinator. Southern and Muharraq Governors extended deep thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for reappointing them, describing the royal trust as a catalyst for more dedicated work for the sake of Bahrain's development and progress.
The session focused on key issues of concern to governorates as well as projects which have been achieved, stressing the importance for coordination councils to address problems and submit reports and recommendations in direct coordination with ministries and government departments.
The Governors stressed the efforts of the coordination councils to survey abandoned and run-down buildings, which pose a security risk, and take the necessary legal measures. Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of prioritizing the recommendations and contentious issues for their referral to the Cabinet.
He underlined the need to encourage citizens to attend majlisses, pointing out a proposal to set up a council of dignitaries in each governorate as a consultative panel and promote social interaction and partnership. The minister highlighted the essential role of Governorates in reaching out to people and meeting their needs.
