Interior Minister attends International Anti-corruption Day celebration

Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has attended the celebration to mark the International Anti-corruption Day, in the presence of the Finance Minister, the Education Minister and the Youth and Sports Minister. The meeting was also attended by Interior Ministry's Undersecretary for Nationality, Passport and Residence Affairs, Customs President, Capital Governor, Chief of Public Security and several officials. The minister expressed gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of General Directorate of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security as an executive authority that fights corruption crimes. Through the cooperation between the legislative, executive and judiciary authorities, as well as the NGOs and the media to implement the National Anti-corruption Strategy. General Director of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, Lt-Col. Bassam Al Maraj asserted that the reform project of His Majesty the King achieved many milestones, including the formation of the anti-corruption directorate at the Interior Ministry. He expressed thanks and appreciation of the directives of the Interior Minister that contributed to the success of the department. A documentary on the national anti-corruption efforts and the activities of the department, including the initiatives of Nazaha campaign, was shown. The minister honoured participants and supporters of the campaign and the students who won in a competition held in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. At the end of the event, the minister toured an exhibition of the artworks of the students who participated in the competitions.
