Integrated plan prepared to facilitate traffic during F1

Manama, Apr. 2. (BNA) -- The General Directorate of Traffic has prepared a comprehensive plan to secure the traffic flow during the hosting of Grand Prix Formula 1 from April 4 to 6. Director-General of Traffic Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa said on Wednesday that as part of the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister, the preparation starts from today and will continue throughout the event towards the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and other main roads . He said a temporary accident office at parking No 10 will be allocated from 7 in the morning until 12 midnight. It was decided to allocate parking No 10 for buses and parking No 11 for taxis. He said that more personnel and vehicles will be deployed in Bahrain to meet traffic rush. He said that there is coordination with the Police aviation and other Interior Ministry departments to monitor traffic flow and all main roads and junctions will be monitored through the screens of the operations room of the traffic department. More lanes in main roads leading to the BIC will be opened, while there will be high deployment of personnel at the King Fahad Causeway to facilitate the entry of F1 visitors throughout the event. He said that the working hours of the traffic department will remain the same, while calling upon the public to follow trafficmen instructions and arrive to the race early as well as stick the parking stickers on the car before heading to the BIC. In case of accident the hotline 199 could be dialed to direct the driver to the traffic office at the BIC. W H Q
