Information Minister: Youth the core of media policy

Manama, Oct. 14 (BNA): Information, Shura and Representatives Councils' Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi has affirmed that caring for Bahraini youth and developing their talent and intellectual, creative and productive potentials are the core of the media policy, being among the priorities of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Reform Project, and the kingdom's real assets. Honouring the sponsors and participants in the "Live 2" contest, organised by the University of Bahrain (UoB)'s College of Arts under the patronage of the Information Affairs Ministry at the Shaikh Abdulaziz Hall, the minister voiced pride in the creative and promising national youth competencies in the fields of radio presentation, press article writing and new media. During the honouring ceremony, attended by UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi, the minister highlighted the Information Affairs Ministry's keenness on supporting more distinguished student functions and competitions, in partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), within the framework of the continuous coordination and cooperation with UoB in developing specialised training and academic programmes in the field of communication and information for the sake of preparing and rehabilitating youth through providing them with the press and media work arts and skills so as to enhance their capabilities and competitive potentials. Al-Hammadi stressed that the reliance of the Bahraini audio-visual, printed and electronic media on Bahraini youth reflects confidence in them and their outstanding skills, noting that doors remain always open for talented and competent Bahrainis to take part effectively in preparing and presenting radio and television programmes and developing the media message and content, coping with the latest technical developments and enhancing commitment to the values of national unity and tolerance. UoB President expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the minister for visiting UoB and patronising the contest aiming to discover youth media talents according to professional and academic standards. The minister honoured the contesters and sponsors, and presented winners with prizes, commending the efforts exerted by the contest's organising committee.
