Inflow of non-cash dollars, shortage of cash observed in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, July 5, 2022. /Kabar/. A large inflow of non-cash dollars and a shortage of cash dollars is observed in Kyrgyzstan, official representative of the National Bank Aida Karabaeva said during a briefing on Tuesday. She added that there is a large inflow of non-cash dollars and rubles due to the geopolitical situation in Russia, which is Kyrgyzstan's main trading partner. "Therefore, there is a surplus of non-cash dollars in our market," Karabaeva said. The specialist noted that the financial regulator has bought $190 million since the beginning of the year to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate. "We are talking exclusively about non-cash currency. Due to the geopolitical situation, a large amount of non-cash dollars is transferred to Kyrgyzstan, they are cashed out and exported outside the country, mainly by individuals," she added.
