Inflation In Qatar Rose By 0.4% In March, Statistics Authority Says
Doha , April 14 (QNA) - Inflation in Qatar rose by 0.4% in March 2013 in comparison to the previous month, the Statistics Authority said Sunday. The annual rate of inflation is 3.6%.
The Statistics Authority said in a release today that the consumer price index (CPI) rose 113 points compared to February, or 0.4%. Inflation in the recreation and culture products was recorded at 0.9%. It was followed by rent, energy, food and tobacco which was recorded at 0.7% each. The authority said that the increase in food prices was attributed to an increase in a hike in the prices of vegetables, fruits and fish.
Transport and communication saw a rise of 0.6%. Furniture and textiles were also up, by 0.3%. Clothes and shoes prices were down by 0.5%, the authority said.
The annual rate increased by 3.6%, mainly due to an 8.7% in recreational products the authority said. Rent, fuel and energy were up 5.5%, while furniture and textiles were up 4.8%. Food, drinks and tobacco were up 2.5% while transport and communication were up 1.9%. (QNA)
