Indonesian, US Joint Marine Training Launched In Situbondo
SITUBONDO, East Java, May 2 (Antara) - Marine Corps Commander Brigadier General Lukman launched a joint training involving the Indonesian and US Marine forces at the Marine Training Center 5 Baluran, Sumberwaru Village, Situbondo, East Java.
"Joint training between the Indonesian and US Marine Corps in the Banyuputih Sub-district will be held for four days starting this May 1st until 4th, and the peak event will be held in August," he stated after the opening ceremony in Situbondo on Monday.
Lukman noted that the training was aimed at increasing the technical and tactical knowledge and capabilities of the Marine Corps personnel for conducting amphibious raids and beach reconnaissance.
The current global security situation, which is becoming increasingly complex with the emergence of threats and international targets, has encouraged nations to establish cooperation to tackle the challenges.
"By evaluating the threats and conflicts, arising both globally and regionally in Southeast Asia, it is necessary to forge international cooperation in the military sector to maintain security and stability," he said.
Lukman expressed hope that several exercises, such as beach reconnaissance and amphibious raids, in the joint training would be utilized by the personnel to increase the professionalism of both sides.
"Seven personnel from the US Marine Corps, taking part in this training, will share their experiences related to tactical operations," he added.
