Indonesian Designers Participate In Fashion Program In Australia
JAKARTA, March 28 (Antara) - Twenty-five young Indonesian designers participated in the Australia Awards Fashion and Textile held for two weeks, according to a statement from the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney received by Antara here on Tuesday.
The participants attended the capacity building programs at the School of Fashion, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), for two weeks.
"In addition to clothing, fashion includes many things. The program not only focused on fashion as a cultural identity but also on everything related to fashion," Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Yayan G.H. Mulyana, stated.
The participants should be able to master various techniques, such as the selection of fabrics and clothing pattern, application of various techniques, and calculation of the final product price, after passing the program, he added.
About 25 young Indonesian designers as well as representatives from the Creative Economy Agency and academia participated in the Australia Award Fashion and Textile Awards, which ended on March 24, 2017.
Australia's legendary designer, Jenny Kee, also attended the closing ceremony as a special guest of the Consul General.
During the fashion course program, the participants were invited to the Victorian Fashion Festival in Melbourne.
The course was hosted by Carla Van Lunn, an academic from QUT, and Lydia Pearson, a former designer of the famous fashion trade mark Easton Pearson.
