Indonesia, S Korea Explore Sport Science Cooperation

JAKARTA, June 6 (Antara) - The Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Puan Maharani explores the Sport Science Cooperation with the South Korean institution to improve the achievement of Indonesia's athletes in the international arena. Minister Puan Maharani made the remarks during her visit to the Korea Institute of Sports Science (KISS), according to a press statement received here on Monday. "Indonesia has also started taking advantage of sports science in the sports coaching, but it is not yet optimal. Hence, to grab achievement of the Asian Games 2018, I hope KISS can cooperate with the Indonesian government as well as educational institution to improve the performance of national athletes," she revealed. Puan further said that Indonesia has a high learning institute dealing with sports education. Thus, she hoped that her visit (to the South Korean institution) can be followed up with cooperation through the related ministry in order to improve the sports achievement. KISS is an institution which conducts scientific research in the field of basic and applied science related to sports. The areas of research include exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, and sports sociology. Earliler, Puan visited the South Korea`s Ssyangyong Information & Communication Corporation (SICC) which will handle the development of an integrated information system in the Asian Games 2018. SICC will handle the development of the integrated information system in implementing the Asian Games 2018 ranging from digital scoring up to the presentation and dissemination of the results quickly and accurately. As many as 45 countries will participate in the Asian Games.
