IATA presents its new audit programme at BIAS 2016

Manama, Jan. 25 (BNA): IATA has chosen the 2016 Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS 2016) to host a seminar regarding its new safety programme for smaller aircraft the IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA). The event held on the third day of the show was the first time that IATA’s new audit program (ISSA) has been presented in the Middle East.
IATA’s Head of Safety & Flight Operations, Middle East & North Africa, Jehad Faqir led the seminar.
The ISSA is a voluntary evaluation program, produced at the request of the industry, to extend the benefits of operational safety and efficiency that emanated from the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Programme to the operators of smaller aircraft that are not eligible for the IOSA programme.
The ISSA programme offers entry into an IATA Assessment Registry to operators that utilise aircraft with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) below 5,700 kg.
It also offers a one term registration opportunity to operators of aircraft with an MTOW above 5700 kg.
ISSA is a voluntary programme, driven by the industry’s wish to improve operational safety performance and efficiency. ISSA provides an environment in which operators can become familiar with the IOSA concept and philosophy.
