HRH Princess Sabeeka's support to the blind praised

Manama, Jan. 30 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan received here today Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, the President of Arab Union for the Blind (ARUB), in the presence of Hussain Haidar Al-Hulaibi, the Chairman of the Bahrain Friendship Society for the Blind and Chairman of the High Organising Committee of the second GCC Friendship Forum for the Bind, held under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, from January 25 to 27. Heads of the participating delegations were also present. The minister praised HRH Princess Sabeeka’s patronage of the forum, and all events benefiting people with disabilities. He highlighted the importance of the forum which provided a platform to exchange expertise and experiences regarding issues of the blind in the GCC countries, to enrich information and knowledge and impart confidence and self-reliance among the blind in order to boost their negotiating capacity and leadership traits. The forum also aimed to prepare visually-impaired students and teachers in order to integrate them into mainstream education, and enable them to choose suitable university disciplines in addition to benefiting from equal job opportunities. Al-Nuaimi extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Princess Sabeeka for her patronage of the event and support for the visually-impaired people. He also paid similar tribute to the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
