HRH Princess Sabeeka lauds royal support for women

Manama, Jan. 6 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired today the fourth meeting of the 5th session of SCW. She commended the unflinching support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Bahraini women and their key role in the national march. She stressed Bahrain's big strides in women empowerment and the integration of their needs in the government's blueprint. She also underlined the enormous contribution of Bahraini women to building a community based on equality and effective partnership between men and women, as stipulated by the constitution and the National Action Charter. HRH Princess Sabeeka praised the achievements of SCW last year which earned the council local, regional and international praise, reiterating determination to go ahead with the national women empowerment scheme to achieve set up goals. The meeting spotlighted issues pertaining to the empowerment of Bahraini women including steps taken by the Secretariat General regarding royal decrees and ministerial resolutions. The council also endorsed the general framework of the political empowerment programme 2016-2018 and got informed about the executive steps taken regarding the launch of HRH Princess Sabeeka's fund to support trade activities of Bahraini women. Other issues were also discussed at the meeting including the launch of HRH Princess Sabeeka's International Women Empowerment Award and the outcome of functions held to mark Bahraini Women's Day 2015.
