HRH Premier's ITU award to boost ICT sector

Manama, Aug. 7 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa has extended sincere congratulations to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Award to be conferred on him during a celebration at the UN headquarters in New York on September 26, marking ITU’s 150th anniversary. The prestigious award is an international appreciation of HRH the Prime Minister’s crucial role in supporting and achieving sustainable development at the local and international levels, on the one hand, and the kingdom’s remarkable progress in developing the information and communication technology (ICT), he said. Shaikh Salman asserted that HRH Premier’s sound visions have placed Bahrain among developed countries in many fields, noting that the international prize adds to the rich record of landmark urban development successes achieved by the government, under the Prime Minister’s leadership. The global award is a catalyst to increase the achievements of the information and telecommunications technology sector in the kingdom, he added.
