HRH Premier: Security key factor for economic development

Manama, Aug. 9 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa stressed the importance of steering Bahrain clear of the pitfalls of the global economic and financial situation. He underlined the key role played by the financial and banking institutions in Bahrain in invigorating the national economy as an effective and influential investment element and a key tributary in supporting the government’s trend in diversifying sources of revenues. HRH the Prime Minister was speaking as he received at Gudaibiya Palace today members of the royal family and senior officials who extended to him heartfelt congratulations on International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s award which is considered as a new international recognition of his development efforts and achievements for the best interest of Bahrain and its people. HRH the Premier affirmed that the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award which will be granted to him by ITU and all previous prizes are an honour for all Bahraini people. He also stressed that the march of accomplishments will continue unabated thanks to the loyal and dedicated Bahraini people who spare no effort in protecting hard-won gains and deterring subversive acts. HRH the Prime Minister underscored the importance of security and stability as a pre-requisite in fast-tracking economic development and boosting citizens’ welfare. He also underlined the role of auditing bodies in supporting the government’s strategy in protecting public money. He emphasised the government’s trend in promoting internal auditing to rationalise expenditure, lauding the role of the National Audit Office in this respect. HRH the Premier urged to protect archaeological artefacts for their importance in documenting the history, calling to keep a record of national events and achievements to highlight Bahrain’s bright history.
