HRH Premier receives US ambassador

Manama, Feb. 14 (BNA): The Bahraini people, who endorsed the National Action Charter (NAC) by an overwhelming majority and who is celebrating NAC's 15th anniversary, will not allow its cohesive society to be sectarianised or fragmented, nor will it pave the way for terrorist groups to impose their agenda and achieve their goals, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said. Bahrain has always been, and will remain, a one society that embraces all its segments and spectra, he stressed, adding that the kingdom is a "nation for co-existence and respect for religions and sects, and a land of fraternity and love." Receiving at the Gudaibiya Palace today the US Ambassador to Bahrain William Roebuck, HRH Premier affirmed that the kingdom enjoys freedom and democracy. The National Action Charter, which was the outcome of a royal vision, paved the way for development and modernisiation in the political, economic and human rights fields, he said. Referring to the global economy, HRH the Prime Minister asserted that economic challenges and dangers have affected all countries and require holding high-profile regional, Arab and international meetings and summits to address them. The Premier also stressed the kingdom's keenness on bolstering its ties with all countries. "We are always looking for friends and our hands are extended to everyone," he said. HRH Premier said that the kingdom is looking forward to opening up new horizons of economic cooperation with the USA to ensure taking optimum advantage of the two countries' economic and trade agreements, noting that the business atmosphere in Bahrain is well suited to attract and encourage more joint investments. The Prime Minister reviewed with the US envoy means to enhance Bahrain-US cooperation in various fields, as well as the latest regional and global issues of common interest. Ambassador Roebuck affirmed his country's support to the measures taken by Bahrain to safeguard its security and stability. He expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his keenness on strengthening bilateral cooperation, stressing that his country is keen on upgrading its ties with Bahrain, given the two countries' good relations and joint coordination in various fields. Bahrain is a strategic ally to the USA, he added, noting that his country is always looking forward to strengthening its relations with the kingdom and opening up more cooperation areas that serve the two friendly peoples.
