HRH Premier receives MPs, senior officials

Manama, Aug. 10 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today a number of MPs and Shura Council members, in the presence of former Speaker Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani and a number of senior state officials. They extended to HRH Premier sincere congratulations on obtaining the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Award in sustainable development. HRH the Prime Minister affirmed that any international appreciation he receives is, most and foremost, in recognition for the Bahrain people’s patriotic dedication and contributions which, he said, have been acclaimed by international organisations, stressing that the feelings of love showcased by the Bahraini citizens towards him cannot be matched by any international honouring. HRH the Premier asserted that members of the legislative branch are basic partners in national achievements, and play a pivotal role in gaining the kingdom landmark accomplishments at the global level. HRH Premier stressed that the current regional and global challenges require concerted efforts to fight terrorism and eliminate it. At the local level, he called for continuous coordination and consultation between the executive and legislative branches to ensure that the kingdom’s legislation and laws are strong and firm enough to deter the threat posed by terrorism. He pointed out that keeping channels of communication between the two branches open will pave the way for quickly addressing many issues that interest that nation and the citizens and contribute to improving the standards of living. The continuous executive-legislature communication will also foil attempts by some sides to exploit national issues to achieve non-national goals, stressing that Bahrainis have, throughout history, proved unity against whoever seeking to target the country’s social fabric, and, therefore, he affirmed, "Bahrain will always remain a role model of co-existence, love and peace." HRH the Premier reiterated his personal follow-up of all issues raised by the mass media or the legislative branch regarding all issues directly related to the citizens, highlighting constant follow-up on all procedures taken by ministries and government departments to implement the government’s strategy to upgrade services. MP Abdulrahman Al Buali spoke on behalf of the audience, and said that if international organisations conferred medals and awards on HRH Premier in recognition of his milestone achievements for the nation and humanity as a whole, the citizens of Bahrain have honoured him with "shields of love and loyalty" for his tireless efforts to develop the nation and fulfill their aspirations.
