HRH Premier receives ITU award ceremony delegation

Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the team work which participated in the special ceremony to announce the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award conferred on him by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in recognition of his role in supporting and achieving the sustainable development goals at the local and international levels. HRH the Prime Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to the members of the team work, led by Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa, for their efforts to highlight the kingdom's landmark sustainable strides. HRH Premier lauded the events held by the team work, and its meetings with senior UN officials on the sidelines of ITU's 150th Anniversary, praising the reception ceremony hosted by the team at the UN headquarters, in the presence of more than 150 senior personalities from the UN and its specialised agencies. The appreciation of international organisations, including the UN, of the kingdom's successes in various fields is the fruitful outcome of a long march of national action during which Bahrainis presented the world with a role model of creativity and achievement. Shaikh Hussam bin Isa handed over to HRH the Prime Minister a copy of the "Bahrain and the United Nations over the Years" book, launched at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the prestigious ITU award bestowed on HRH Premier and the 70th UN Anniversary. The team work comprised a number of officials from HRH Premier's Court, as well as the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Informatics and e-Government Authority.
