Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa will patronise on November 25 the inauguration ceremony of the 4th edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) e-Government Award, Conference and Exhibition 2015 at ART Rotana Hotel and Resort in MUharraq. The event, which is organised by the Committee of Informatics and eGovernment Authority, will be attended by ministers and Heads of the GCC eGovernments. HRH the Premier will honour the winning works of the GCC eGovernment Award and inaugurate the associated exhibition. HRH the Prime Minister’s patronage of the event is a reassertion of his care and dedicated support to the ICT sector in Bahrain, being a key contributor in the government’s strategy to boost sustainable development and optimise citizen-oriented services. HRH the Premier’s key role in developing the ICT sector in the kingdom culminated recently in granting him the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Thanks to its sound ICT infrastructure, Bahrain has been rated by the UN in its 2014 report as one of the countries with a very high readiness index. It is also considered as the only Arab country in this international rating. The GCC eGovernment Award, Conference and Exhibition is a biennial event hosted by one of the GCC countries. It was first launched in 2009 in Oman. It was hosted by Kuwait in 2011 and the UAE in 2013. A total of 500 visitors from Bahrain and abroad are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the 4th edition which will cast light on successful experiences in the ICT sector.
