HRH Premier congratulated by speaker on ITU honour

Manama, Sep.28 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla has extended sincere congratulations to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on being granted the Information and Communication Technology in Sustainable Development Award by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) during a special ceremony held at the UN headquarters in New York, in the presence of high-profile delegations and ITU senior officials. The prestigious ITU Award adds to HRH the Prime Minister’s rich record of milestone achievements that prove his landmark contributions to the nation’s development, Al-Mulla said. The kingdom’s leading status in ICT and the success of the e-Government project that reflected positively on the citizens’ living standards and become a world role model are the fruitful outcome of the efforts of the Government of Bahrain, under HRH Premier’s leadership, to harness ICT in achieving sustainable development, he added. He stressed that the top global honour conferred on HRH the Premier, the first of its kind to be granted to an Arab Prime Minister, is a source of pride for all Bahrainis, noting that it is the result of the openness policy, adopted by the kingdom since the launch of the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, a policy that entitled the kingdom to be among leading countries in the field of information and communication technology thanks to the Premier’s support.
