HRH Premier calls for Arab awakening to confront challenges

Manama, Aug. 24 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for an Arab awakening to confront the threats and security, economic and political challenges currently facing the Arab World.
He stressed that the rapidly unfolding developments would have severe consequences on Arab countries and peoples unless they are preceded by more cooperation, complementarity, unified stances, joint action and reactions.
"These developments require leaders and officials of the countries of the region to intensify meetings and visits to unify their stances and the decisions to be taken vis-à-vis any potential threat that may put regional security and stability at risk," he said.
HRH the Prime Minister made the statements as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace today a number of MPs and Shura members, led by Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, in the presence of Former Speaker of the Representatives Council Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani and a number of senior state officials.
Speaking on behalf of the representatives of the legislative branch who attended the meeting, MP Adel Al-Assoomi asserted that HRH Premier’s support for the Representatives and Shura councils had contributed significantly to the success of the kingdom’s democratic march and legislative work, describing the Prime Minister’s support as the main pillar of the achievements of the National Assembly ever since the legislative work started in Bahrain.
Under HRH Premier’s leadership, the government has set a bright example in providing the needed support for the legislative branch to assume and foster its monitoring and legislative role, MP Al-Assoomi added.
HRH the Premier underscored the importance of executive-legislature cooperation and meetings between government officials and MPs in serving the interests of the nation and fulfilling the aspirations of the citizens for more services and development achievements, calling for intensifying joint meetings and activating the agreements reached through joint committees for the best interests of the homeland and the Bahraini people.
HRH Premier expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to MPs and Shura members for their cooperation and interaction with the citizens’ remarks, noting that such positive response and interaction will contribute to implementing the citizen-oriented government’s policies, plans and programmes.
In another context, HRH the Prime Minister affirmed that the urban boom and the steadily-expanding service projects have entitled Bahrain to be a country that copes with modern developments, with the multiple opportunities and challenges they create, calling on officials to constantly follow-up on achievements in this regard.
HRH Premier highlighted the government’s keenness on providing all support and facilities for development projects that contribute to enhancing the kingdom’s economic and urban march.
